Shiloh (RKG) - Last night at 8:15PM, unknown thieves stole the Charter of Gilboa from its display in the national archives at Unity Hall.
The Charter was taken after the public sections of Unity Hall had been closed to visitors. Shiloh Police stated that the security system, including video surveillance, was disabled momentarily earlier in the day for servicing. A white van was spotted leaving the Unity Hall parking garage shortly after 8:15PM. No other information about the heist had been made available by press time.
The Charter of Gilboa is the nation's founding document, crafted at the end of the Unification War. It tells of the country's history, and lays out in detail the rights and responsibilities of its King and its citizens. The Charter of Gilboa is considered priceless, but on the black market, one informant told RKG, it could fetch up to 100 million Laurels.
Press Minister Forsythe announced in an emergency press briefing that King Silas Benjamin and his council of ministers and advisors had immediately convened to decide what action to take.
"The thieves will be caught, the charter will be returned, and our nation will not be brought low by this," Minister Forsythe read from a prepared statement. "Even now, teams of King's Own soldiers scour the country for this symbol of our nation's pride. But, remember, the Charter is only a symbol. Our pride sits in our citizens hearts, and does not falter."
When asked how they planned to track the thieves, Press Minister Forsythe said they had several leads, but could not comment further.
